HK activist Joshua Wong to be jailed for 10 more months over unauthorised Tiananmen Square vigil

Imprisoned Hong Kong opposition activist Joshua Wong Chi-fung has been sentenced to an additional 10 months in jail. The sentence was handed down on May 6, 2021, after he and three others pleaded guilty a week earlier to taking part in an unauthorised vigil in Hong Kong on June 4, 2020. District councillors Lester Shum, Tiffany Yuen Ka-wai and Jannelle Rosalynne Leung were also sentenced for their roles in the event in Victoria Park to commemorate Beijing’s 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown. Shum, aged 27, received a six-month sentence, while Yuen, 27, and Leung, 26, each were given four-month  jail sentences. Wong faces other charges and must serve the latest sentence after his current jail term ends.
