Hong Kong should expect negative economic growth for 2019, according to the city’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor.
Speaking at an October 29, 2019, press briefing ahead of a weekly Executive Council meeting, Lam said the city’s economy will enter a “very serious situation” and may see a “technical recession”. She blamed ongoing violent protests for Hong Kong’s economic woes.
