Hong Kong’s National Party and six university student unions had planned to hold a ‘20 Years of Chinese Occupation’ rally to mourn the ‘fall’ of Hong Kong in the handover to China.
They called off the assembly an hour before it was supposed to start after the police blocked them off from the Clock Tower. The officers also warned that anyone trying to protest would be arrested.
The National Party held an assembly at Tamar Park last year, after its convenor was disqualified from running in the Legislative Council elections.
