June 4 vigil in Hong Kong

Why Hong Kong student leaders are boycotting the June 4 vigil

The candlelight vigil commemorating the Tiananmen Square crackdown has been held annually for the past 26 years at Hong Kong’s Victoria Park. This year, the Hong Kong Federation of Students (HKFS) will be absent from the event for the first time after it separated from the event’s organisers, the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China. Representatives from the two generations of student leaders spoke to SCMP.tv about what lies behind the divide.
