1 dead after medieval-era tower collapse in Rome traps workers

The Torre dei Conti, which was built in 1238 by the brother of Pope Innocent III, partially collapsed during renovation work.

The Torre dei Conti in Rome, a medieval-era tower that has been under renovation, suffered two separate collapses on November 3, 2025. Two Romanians who had been working on the project were trapped under the rubble. One of the men later died on the way to hospital after being trapped under the debris for nearly 12 hours.
