Considered chubby for his species, a panda cub weighing 249 grams (8.8oz), is believed to be the world’s heaviest giant panda to be born in captivity. The birth happened at the Panda Centre in Wolong Nature Reserve in China's southwestern province of Sichuan. The cub’s mother, Meixi, went into labour on July 26, 2021, and finally gave birth to the female panda at 11.48am the next morning.
