Chinese retailers have reacted swiftly after US presidential hopeful Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at a campaign rally on July 13, 2024. Hours after the deadly shooting incident, manufacturers started printing T-shirts showing a defiant Trump. Many of the items are being sold on Taobao – the Chinese e-commerce platform owned by Alibaba, which also owns the South China Morning Post.
