Dangerous levels of arsenic have been detected in a northern Thai river that has been contaminated by chemicals used in mines across the border in Myanmar. Images of the orange-yellow waters have been widely shared online, sparking warnings from local environmentalists that the toxic sediment threatens to unleash an unprecedented ecological disaster on Thailand’s waterways.
