American who gave US$5,000 to plant trees in China invited to see forest he helped fund

A Chinese woman who has been planting trees in an Inner Mongolia desert for decades has invited an American who donated US$5,000 in 1999 to visit the area that has been turned into a forest. Yin Yuzhen contacted Ronald Sakolsky on May 19, 2026, to ask him to visit the area in the Maowusu Desert. Yin was named a National Model Worker by China’s State Council in 2000 for her commitment to combating desertification.
