At Home Plate BBQ, an American-style restaurant in Beijing, staff have been reprinting menus. The US-China trade war has forced the venue to take its star ingredient, American beef, off the table. Home Plate once sourced all of its meat from the US, but increasingly the beef on the menu is Australian. The restaurant goes through about 7-8 tonnes of brisket each month, so when the US beef in its freezers is used up in a few weeks the southern-style BBQ restaurant will only be serving Australian meat.
