China started a five-day joint maritime exercise with Singapore on September 1, 2024, to “promote practical exchanges and cooperation” between the two countries, the Chinese defence ministry said. It is the third time the exercise has been held since it started in 2015. The drills, expected to take place until September 5, will be longer and cover more skills than in the past. Chinese navy officer Zhong Mei said China  looked forward to further cooperation with its Singaporean counterpart in the future.
