Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for all-out efforts to fight the impact of extreme weather gripping parts of the country. Floods have inundated parts of China’s southern provinces while droughts have affected areas in the north. State media reported on June 18, 2024, that Xi called for solid work in disaster relief to safeguard people's lives and property.
