China's first ambassador to Honduras presents credentials after country switches ties to Beijing

China’s first ambassador to Honduras, Yu Bo, presented his credentials to the country’s President Xiomara Castro on September 7, 2023. It came six months after the Central American nation established formal relations with Beijing. At the accreditation ceremony, the Honduran foreign affairs minister said the event marked the opening of  “a new relationship and new possibilities for the country”. Honduras broke off diplomatic relations with Taiwan in March after 82 years to switch allegiance to Beijing.
