US charges Chinese spies with interfering in probe into telecom company, likely Huawei

Two men described as Chinese intelligence officers were accused of trying to obstruct a US criminal investigation into a China-based global telecommunications company, according to an indictment unsealed by US federal prosecutors on October 24, 2022. During a press conference, US Attorney General Merrick Garland did not mention the name of the company, which was also not identified in the charging documents. However, a person familiar with the investigation who asked not to be identified said Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies is believed to be the entity in question.
