China’s foreign ministry urged India to exercise restraint on January 25, 2021. The remarks came after reports that troops from the two countries were involved in a “minor” face-off at the disputed border in the eastern Himalayas last week. Spokesman Zhao Lijian said he did not have any information to offer on the incident, but he urged India to “take practical actions to maintain peace and stability in the border areas”.
