Chinese woman jailed for 13 years for US$1 million Disneyland ticket fraud

A Chinese woman was jailed for 13 years in connection with a 7 million yuan (US$1 million) fraud case involving tickets for Shanghai Disneyland.

Prosecutors said the woman, identified only by her surname Yuan, claimed to be an assistant to a top manager at the theme park, and able to purchase half-price advance tickets for clients.

She collected a total of 9 million yuan (US$1.34 million) and provided only 2 million yuan worth of tickets to customers as she spent some of the money to cover her own debts.

The woman has also been ordered to refund money paid by her victims and pay fines of 300,000 yuan (US$44,514).
