Indonesia investigates reports of 8 citizens fighting in Russia’s war against Ukraine

Indonesia is investigating reports that eight of its citizens who applied for civilian jobs were instead recruited to fight for Russia against Ukraine. Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Legal, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, said authorities are checking the identities and hiring processes of the individuals, who were allegedly lured by promises of high-paying, non-combat roles as well as fast-tracked Russian citizenship.
