Japan’s earthquake victims face water shortages and scorching heat 2 days after disaster
The death toll from the magnitude 7.1 quake has risen to 35, as rescue teams continue to search for missing people.
Residents in Kumamoto’s Yatshushiro City are struggling to return to their daily lives without access to running water after a magnitude 7.1 earthquake hit Kumamoto on the southern island of Kyushu. As temperatures climb to 37 degrees Celsius (99°F) in the area, many are finding there is barely enough water for their needs. At least 35 deaths have been confirmed and several other people are missing since the quake.
