South Korea’s former first lady Kim Keon-hee gets 20 months in jail for corruption

A South Korean court has sentenced former first lady Kim Keon-hee to one year and eight months in prison for corruption. However, the court acquitted her on other charges including alleged stock manipulation. The January 28, 2026 ruling made Kim and her husband Yoon Suk-yeol the first presidential couple in South Korea’s history to both be convicted of crimes.
