‘I couldn’t imagine losing my daughter here’: Australia mourns Bondi shooting victims

One of two men suspected of carrying out Australia’s deadliest mass shooting in three decades was charged on December 17, 2025. The alleged father-and-son perpetrators opened fire on a Jewish Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on December 14. The attack left 16 people dead, including one of the suspects. As funerals for the victims got under way, investigators continued to investigate leads about the suspects travelling to the southern Philippines days before the attack.
