Prabowo's budget cuts threaten loss of medical and financial aid to Bali bombing survivors

Survivors of the deadly 2002 Bali bombing are at risk of losing essential aid following budget cuts introduced by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. His administration in January 2025 announced US$19 billion in budget cuts to fund his flagship election promises, such as free school lunches. But critics say the new programmes would come at the expense of existing social welfare schemes.
