Fourteen pupils in Japan were sent to hospital on July 16, 2024, after they ate spicy crisps made by local manufacturer Isoyama Corp. They were among some 30 students who had stomach and mouth pain related to the food. The snacks, known as R18 Curry Chips, are sold with a warning for consumers under the age of 18 and an advisory saying people with high blood pressure and weak stomachs should not eat them. Isoyama Corp has issued an apology to customers after the incident.
