Thailand’s Senate overwhelmingly voted in favour of passing a marriage equality bill on June 18, 2024, that would legalise same-sex marriage. The bill still needs royal approval, which can still take about four months. If approved, Thailand would become the first country in Southeast Asia, as well as the third Asian society after Taiwan and Nepal, to legalise same-sex marriage.
