Japanese smartphone app CatsMe! says it can detect when cats are in pain, with an accuracy of over 95 per cent. The app has been used by more than 230,000 customers since its launch in 2023. CatsMe! was developed by tech startup Carelogy and researchers at Nihon University, who used 6,000 pictures of cats to train the app’s AI model to detect pain.
