Japan has suspended delivery and sales of six vehicles currently sold in the country, including three manufactured by Toyota. The move escalated a safety scandal that has embroiled some of the world’s top carmakers. Five carmakers, including Honda and Mazda, were found to have falsified or manipulated safety data while applying for certifications. Japan’s transport ministry is investigating the case which has reportedly focused on 17 companies.
