More than 40 dogs, including newborn puppies, were rescued from a Vietnamese slaughterhouse when the owner decided to quit the dog meat trade. Vietnam is among the world's top consumers of dog meat, but changing attitudes and an increased prevalence of pet ownership are slowly altering this practice. The rescued dogs are now in the care of a shelter and awaiting adoption.
