Aerial footage showed flooding around India’s historic Red Fort monument on July 13, 2023, as water from the swollen Yamuna River inundated low-lying areas of the capital New Delhi. Flash floods over the weekend in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh swept away a bridge and some villages. Over 100 people have been reported dead in northern India so far as the country struggles with record rainfall amid a summer monsoon.
