Pakistani police force steps up battle against Islamist militants after series of attacks

Islamist militants tied to the Taliban have launched increasing attacks along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, many targeting the police. One outpost in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has seen four major attacks in recent months, and numerous cases of sniper fire, according to officials.
