South Korea’s antitrust regulator said on January 3, 2023, it has decided to impose a penalty of 2.8 billion won (US$2.2 million) on US electric carmaker Tesla and its Korean unit for false advertising. Officials said that Tesla failed to tell its customers about the shorter driving range of its cars in cold weather, which shortens its vehicles’ battery life by as much as 50.5 per cent, compared to its online advertisements.
