Kim Jong-un rings in new year with more rockets, plans to boost North Korean nuclear arsenal

Kim Jong-un ushered in the new year by attending a ceremony featuring multiple rocket launchers on December 31, 2022. The North Korean leader said the weapons could be loaded with nuclear warheads capable of striking South Korea, according to state news agency KCNA. Kim also reportedly called for a larger nuclear arsenal, amid what he said were threats from South Korea and the United States.
