Bollywood adapts ‘Forrest Gump’ in hopes of reinvigorating Indian audiences

One of India's most bankable film stars, Aamir Khan, is releasing Laal Singh Chaddha, an Indian spin on the 1994 Hollywood hit Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks. Khan teamed up with screenwriter Atul Kulkarni and director Advait Chandan to bring the film to the cinemas. Khan said he wanted to make it a "respectful tribute to the original and take it in an exciting new direction". The film is expected to be one of India's biggest movies of 2022.
