Pakistani city on ‘front line of climate change’ sees record temperatures

Pakistan’s Jacobabad is one of the world’s hottest cities, with temperatures peaking at 51 degrees Celsius (124°F). Heatwaves there are becoming hotter, more frequent and arriving earlier. Experts say the scorching heat is consistent with predictions of global warming. Pakistan is the eighth most vulnerable country to climate change-induced weather extremes, according to the environmental NGO Germanwatch.
