Dramatic eruption of Taal Volcano in the Philippines captured on camera

The Taal Volcano in the Philippine province of Batangas erupted on July 1, 2021, and continues to emit plumes of smoke with high levels of sulfur dioxide. Cameras monitoring the volcano recorded the moment the volcano sprang to life. It had been discharging sulphur dioxide for the previous week, creating a haze over the capital Manila. As smoke shrouded homes in the capital Manila around 70km (43 miles) away, nearly 4,500 people were evacuated from high-risk areas.
