Tokyo Olympics cancellation is unthinkable, says Tokyo city governor

Questions have been raised for weeks about whether the Tokyo Olympics will be cancelled or postponed because of the deadly coronavirus that causes Covid-19. The World Health Organisation said on March 11, 2020, that the disease is now a global pandemic. But the Japanese capital’s governor Yuriko Koike insists that the 2020 Games remain on track, even though she admits the illness will have an impact on the events. The International Olympic Committee also has said preparations for the Tokyo Olympics are going ahead.
