Kim and Putin hold summit in eastern Russia

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian president Vladimir Putin have met for the first time, with both sides hoping to gain global leverage as they discuss denuclearisation on the Korean peninsula and the potential for bilateral cooperation.

The meeting comes nearly two months after Kim’s Hanoi summit with US president Donald Trump ended without an agreement on disarmament or US sanctions.
