Rice paddy painting has become a tradition in the province of Shenyang in northeast China, attracting tourists from all around the country. Farmers strategically plant different coloured rice saplings that create stunning works of art that can be seen from above. This year farmers created an image of the Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion, an especially intricate and difficult project.
