Pixar’s Bao, a story about a lonely Chinese mother and her baby dumpling, won this year’s Oscar for Best Animated Short. Bao is Chinese-Canadian animator Domee Shi's directorial debut. Shi said she dived into the heritage she had taken for granted to make Bao. Fans hail it for paying homage to Chinese mothers and Chinese food.
