US-Russia relations

Despite the fall of the Soviet Union, tensions between the United States and Russia have been a constant since the end of the Second World War. However, they hit a new high in 2022 when Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine, leading to a protracted war in which the US gave aid to Kyiv while placing substantial sanctions on Russia.
