In Taiwan’s worst train accident in decades, the eight-car Taroko Express carrying 496 passengers was en route to the southeastern coastal city of Taitung from New Taipei City when it collided with a driverless truck near Chongde, Hualien on April 2, 2021. Fifty people were killed and more than 200 others injured.
