Taiwan Affairs Office

The Taiwan Affairs Office, a governmental body of the People’s Republic of China, serves as an administrative agency under the State Council, with its headquarters located in Beijing. Its primary mission is to set and implement guidelines and policies concerning Taiwan, as directed by the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee and the State Council. The Office’s main activities include coordinating cross-strait relations, managing economic and cultural exchanges, and overseeing direct links in mail, transport, and trade. It plays a crucial role in Beijing’s policy towards Taiwan, aiming to promote Chinese unification.
