Rafael Grossi
Rafael Grossi is an Argentine diplomat and the current Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a position he has held since December 2019 and to which he was unanimously re-elected. With nearly 40 years in diplomacy, he is a leading expert in non-proliferation and disarmament. His extensive career includes serving as Argentina’s Ambassador to Austria and holding senior roles at the IAEA and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Grossi notably presided over the Nuclear Suppliers Group and secured the Vienna Declaration on Nuclear Safety. He actively champions gender balance in the nuclear field and has been central to monitoring Iran’s nuclear programme.
