But there's more to China's smartphone battle than just the winners. Beneath all of them are the smaller players that are struggling to weather the increasingly cutthroat competition: In that Q3 report we talked about in the previous story, everyone outside of Vivo, Oppo, Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi and Apple are down 48% year-on-year. Meitu, whom you might know better as the maker of selfie editing software, is one of them. It sold a meager 533,000 units in the first half of this year. And this week, it finally raised the white flag and handed over its smartphone business to Xiaomi.
