Alipay and artificial intelligence glasses maker Rokid have jointly unveiled a smart glasses payment solution on the Rokid Lingzhu AI development platform, giving developers an easy path to build payment functions into their applications.
Based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open-source standard that connects AI applications to external systems, the service allowed developers to easily integrate pre-built capabilities, such as receiving payments, by adding plug-ins, according to a statement from Ant Group on Wednesday.
The function has been made available to participants in the Rokid Spatial Joy 25 Global AR and AI Developer Competition.
End users can pay directly using natural language phrases, a core functionality demonstrated by the AI payment feature of Alipay on Rokid smart glasses. The feature enables hands-free transactions via voice commands directed to the AI agent within the smart glasses.

Alipay is operated by Ant Group, an affiliate of Alibaba Group Holding, owner of the Post.
Alibaba showcased the Quark AI glasses and look-and-pay function in July in Shanghai at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference. Alibaba launched its Quark AI glasses last month, joining a slew of Chinese technology firms in the smart glasses sector.
The look-and-pay function was later expanded to Xiaomi and RayNeo AI glasses, as the payment option continues to gain traction along with methods using QR codes and facial recognition.
Ant International, Ant Group’s overseas arm, recently unveiled its iris-authentication payment technology for smart glasses.
To capture the emerging commercial opportunities presented by AI agents, Chinese technology companies are rapidly adopting the MCP framework. This framework standardises the integration of AI agents – autonomous programmes that perform specific tasks – with external data and tools.
Tbox, Ant Group’s AI agent development platform, supports the deployment of more than 30 MCP services, such as Alipay, Amap and Wuying, according to Alibaba. Alibaba Cloud, the company’s cloud division, launched an MCP marketplace via its AI model hosting platform ModelScope.
Yuanqi, the AI agent development platform of Tencent Cloud, the cloud computing unit of Chinese social media and gaming giant Tencent Holdings, integrated WeChat Pay MCP in July.
