Coleman Wong beats world No 29 to reach quarter-finals of Delray Beach Open
The 21-year-old books meeting with world No 20 Flavio Cobolli after straight sets victory over Brandon Nakashima in ATP 250 event in USA

Coleman Wong Chak-lam has claimed his second notable scalp inside three days after beating world No 29 Brandon Nakashima in straight sets to book a Delray Beach Open quarter-final date with Flavio Cobolli.
Playing the ATP 250 event in America for the first time, Wong sent down 13 aces and recovered from being broken when serving for the match to wrap up a 6-4, 7-6 victory in one hour and 28 minutes.
The Hongkonger has won four straight matches in Florida, after coming through a pair of qualifiers, then ousting Portuguese world No 45 Nuno Borges in round one.
Wong, who had lost his only previous meeting with Nakashima back in 2024, said: “I am very happy, it’s not easy to reach the quarter-finals playing here for the first time.
“I lost to this opponent last time, so I wanted to beat him today. To those who are watching me [back in Hong Kong] I want to tell you all that we can do it.”
Statistically, this was 21-year-old Wong’s second-best career victory, behind a win over then world No 14 Ben Shelton in Miami last March.
