The Welsh were never in the contest as Scotland ran up six unanswered tries through a Lee Jones brace and one each from Chris Dean, Fraser Lyle, James Johnstone and Mark Robertson.

“There was a lot of promise through the weekend and with an inexperienced squad we showed some glimpses of doing something but that last game leaves a sour taste in your mouth.

“We talk about player responsibility and we put a lot of pressure on that, the boys must look at themselves in that sense. We were doing things in the game that we weren’t doing over the weekend. I take a lot of responsibility for that but we must sort it out.”

Williams is confident his side can bounce back in the next tournament in Tokyo, Japan.
