Life could not be better at The Rock for Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish. They will keep possession of the Broony Quaich going into the Christmas break after beating defending league champions Leighton Asia HKCC last week for the first time in six attempts, and they themselves have been bested only once this season.

"The season has been incredible in terms of quality so far," said Scottish general manager Dave Whiteford.

"We have only lost once all year and yet still aren't top of the table, and we could be anywhere from first to third after this Saturday's round of matches which shows the consistency of the top three teams."

Hong Kong Scottish, who are tied on 32 points with Hong Kong Cricket Club at the top of the HKRFU Premiership standings, will play away to third-placed Societe Generale Valley, who are three points behind the joint leaders.

To make matters even more interesting, the top three will have to be wary of the bottom three - Natixis HKFC, Abacus Kowloon and Borrelli Walsh USRC Tigers - who can still play a decisive role in who wins the silverware.

And this adds to Whiteford's anxiety. "Club have been outstanding over the past three weeks and Tigers will cause a major upset sometime between now and the end of the season that I'm sure could affect who ends up with the league title," he said.

"Kowloon have key backs coming back from injury after Christmas which will see them with as strong a squad as anyone."
