Kilian Jornet won the Golden Trail Series final in Nepal on Friday, and took the overall series title as a result.

He finished the 42km mountain race in Nepal in four hours, 46 minutes and five seconds, well ahead of a number of top runners, including Sage Canaday, who all qualified for the final by finishing in the top ten in the first six races.

Bhim Gurung appeared at the finish line a few minutes before Jornet, from somewhere to the right of the finish area. He initially thought he had won, but it transpired he had missed a checkpoint in error.

Bhim would later return to the course and run an extra 8km to complete the course correctly. Incredibly, the Nepali still managed a top ten finish.

Coming into the final, Jornet was top of the table having won Zegama, Pikes Peak and Sierre Zinal.
