Chinese snooker player Zhang Anda made a stunning maximum 147 break during his 6-3 triumph over compatriot Lei Peifan at the UK Championship on Tuesday, which was hailed as “perfect” by commentator Ronnie O’Sullivan.

The 11th seed potted the 15 reds as well as the black 15 times and then all the colours in order before receiving a standing ovation from the York Barbican crowd.

“This is my third time making a maximum and this time it just felt different as the UK Championship is a big event so I’m just very happy,” Zhang said.

“I opened the reds so well and then I knew I could make it. It was just very exciting, my heart was beating so quickly.”
