The timing could not be more perfect, George Jarvis said, as the Briton gears up for a career-defining clash against reigning two-sport champion Regian Eersel at ONE Fight Night 34.

The 24-year-old will challenge the Surinamese-Dutch title-holder at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium on August 2 for the Lightweight Muay Thai World Championship, and Jarvis described it as a moment that “has been written” for years.

Visualising this opportunity, he said, had never left his mind since his ONE Championship debut two years ago.

“This is something that we’ve been working towards for a long time.” Jarvis told the Post.

“Since the day I made my debut on ONE Championship, it’s always something I knew I’d eventually achieve,” he said. “It was only a matter of time – and obviously a matter of getting the opportunity.”

Jarvis, who last November captured the attention of ONE’s global fan base with a spectacular third-round knockout victory over Thailand’s Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong at ONE Friday Fights 85 in Bangkok, said: “As they say, everything happens for a reason – and we finally got the shot that I believe I deserve. I’m more than ready.”
