After trending high in US social media metrics for the second week running, chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong invited Joe Rogan to commentate on a Muay Thai event for ONE Championship.

The UFC commentator had praised the Singapore-based martial arts promotion after the spectacular ONE Friday Fights 34 main event between “masters of the art” Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmookao last week.

“Out of all the combat sports out there, Muay Thai has the biggest untapped potential in the Western world,” Rogan wrote in an Instagram post after the fight. “The talent is there, the excitement is off the charts. It’s just going to take the right organisation with deep pockets to make it as huge as it deserves to be over here.”

Rogan went one step further in the latest episode of his hugely popular podcast, saying that the UFC should put on a Muay Thai event, and telling president Dana White “I’ll commentate, you heard me”.

The Las Vegas-based MMA giant is unlikely to be getting into the Muay Thai business any time soon, however, and Chatri insisted the platform is already there in the form of ONE Championship if Rogan wants to blow up the popularity of the sport in the US.
